Hennepin County Children’s Mental Health Collaborative (HCCMHC) is conducting parent interviews with parents and caregivers who have children receiving mental health services. We are seeking feedback from families to help us improve the children’s mental health system.

  • Parents and Caregivers

Tell us your story! We want to know what your child’s mental health experience has been like as a part of the children’s mental health system.

  • Who Can Participate?

Any parent or caregiver who (A) lives in Hennepin County or is receiving children’s mental health services in Hennepin County, and (B) has a child (age 0-21) who was first identified with a mental health issue within the last 5 years.

  • About the Interviews

Interviews will take about 45 minutes. Upon completion you will receive a $25 gift card for Target or Walmart. Interpreters are available for parents or caregivers when English is not your first language.

The interview will ask you about how you first learned that your child had a mental health concern, and things that you have done so far to connect with services or supports.

We would be interested in talking to you even if you your child has not received any services or supports through the children’s mental health system.

No, you do not need to do the interview. Someone will contact you to schedule an interview, but you can decide not to participate.

The length of the interview will vary depending on how many different services or supports you have tried to arrange for your child. We are estimating that the interview should take around 45 minutes.

An interviewer will contact you to schedule an interview at a time that is convenient for you. Interviews will generally be completed by phone or through zoom, though an interviewer may be able to meet with you in-person if you prefer it.

In appreciation for your time, you will be offered a $25 electronic gift card to either Target or Walmart, whichever you choose.

Your responses will be combined with those of all of the other parents that we interview. Your name will not be shared with anyone outside of the project team and will not appear in any report that we prepare.

When you sign up, let us know if you would like to be interviewed in another language and we will do our best to match you with an appropriate interviewer.

The interview results will be shared with children’s mental health system partners across Hennepin County and will be used to develop strategies for supporting parents who are trying to find services and supports for their children.

At the end of the interview, you will be asked if you would like to receive a copy of the project findings. If you are interested, we will send you the results later this year.
